Ah, Kate Bush. A long-time favorite of mine.

(from Fullhouse):

Driving back in her car, watching the wipers
squashing the leaves away
suddenly there in the road is your old self
trying to get out of the way,
I am my enemy, mowing me over,
and towing the line away,
somehow it just seems to fit,
with that old me trying to get back again...

(from In Search of Peter Pan):

...and grannie takes me on her knee,
she tells me I'm too sensitive, she makes me sad
she makes me feel like an old man...
...she took the game right out me...

Let's not leave out Suzanne Vega, (from
Days of Open Hand):

Now the time has come to speak, I was not able,
and water through a rusted pipe
could make the sense that I do
gurgle, and mutter, hiss, and stutter, moan,
words like water rush and foam and choke
having waited this long of a winter
I find I only croak...and sigh

somewhere deep within
hear the creak that lets the tale begin...

(from the same album):

oh mom, I wonder when I'll be waking,
it's just that there's so much to do
and I'm tired of sleeping...

I don't know about the rest of you, but there have been
times in my life where if it weren't for some of these
musicians I have had no one to relate to. They sing what
I'm not able to say (croak).
