Actually he did not leave it out. If you read the chart closely enough, at the bottom he says that BPD corresponds to a wide range of personality types, in so many words.

He is true about that. BPD seems to focus on 2, 4, 6, and 7. I couldnt imagine a 1, 3, 5, 8, or 9 having it.

In Oldham's personality types, the MERCURIAL personality is a direct match to BPD, so maybe that might be a better alternative than the enneagram for you?

: In Don Riso's book _Personality Types_,
: he makes a connection between common
: psychological disorders and enneagram
: types. So for instance the Three is most
: prone to narcissistic personality disorder
: while the One is prone to Compulsive
: Personality Disorder. Riso left out a
: very frequent disorder, and that is
: borderline personality disorder. To me
: it seems that the symptoms of this
: controversial disorder illustrate some
: of the worst excesses of personality
: type Four. Some of the common symptoms
: of BPD include: 1) Frantic efforts to
: avoid abandonment, 2) a pattern of intense
: and unstable interpersonal relationships,
: 3) Recurrent suicidal behavior and gestures
: 4) Chronic feeling of emptiness and so on.
: These descriptions sound remarkably similar
: to the Four. Fours are known for the
: push-pull style in relationships, the
: intensity of their feelings, chronic feeling
: of melancholy and despair, and of course
: the concern about abandonment. Is it
: possible that those who suffer from BPD
: are Fours with perhaps an additional
: traumatic experience that further
: intensified their emotional life. Also, I
: might add a bit of anecdotal information
: and note that everyone I know who suffers
: from BPD is a Four. I have never known
: anyone with BPD who is not a Four. Of
: course I am sure there are exceptions. Any
: comments??
