I've "lucid dreamed" only once or twice, and I woke up as soon as I found out it was a dream. I've never been able to control it.

I had a dream the night before last that I was wandering through a strange building and came out into a "garden." Only it was more like swampland than garden. But the sun was shining very brightly, it was a little humid, I was surrounded by water and marsh and lilies as far as I could see...I'd love to be able to have that dream again and control it somehow.

I don't have much trouble REMEMBERING my dreams--they're often very detailed and I could type out a page or two describing the above one--but I can't consciously alter the course of the dream.

Sorry, don't know any tried-and-true lucid dreaming techniques. I've heard that repeating what you want to dream about while you're dozing off is good, but I always lose track and fall asleep and dream about something else anyway. It's hard to keep your mind on something when you're falling asleep. :)
