Because I often wonder why it is that I put up with weird, draining friendships in my life, and since reading your post I realize that ITS FAMILIAR, wow. I never realized that before. I was the emotional sponge in my family...the one person who got along with and understood all the others... and I have a schizophrenic brother and a narcissistic mother, both of whom have been a tremendous drain on me. God, that makes me feel so much better to understand that. I always thought it was some pathological need to sabotage my own happiness, when really it was just what I was used to. Thank you so much for your wisdom!! I hope to see you post here often!!
