My answer would be very similar to yours.
But my attitude, externally, *would* probably be different... I have gained a little bit of self-confidence thanks to the enneagram and am able to open up more and allow people into my life, whereas before it was impossible. I have become much more accepting and less judgemental I think.
Mentally, I would continue to be extremely confused and depressed, and like you said "wouldn't have any power to get out of my many potential holes and pitfalls."... I really don't know what my life would be like right now if I hadn't discovered the enneagram when I did! Because I was going through a really bad period, feeling all wrong and defective and out of place in this world... and feeling bad for feeling what I was feeling! (wow, should I say "feeling" one more time?? ;)
But seriously, I'd be going down the dark, pessimistic, self-destructive and self-hating spiral I had created and was begining to go down... The enneagram made me snap out of it instantly and see that I WASN'T CRAZY.
I am now able to look at myself and others much more objectively than before.
