You know, I am really, really disturbed by that kind of research.
What I think is implicit in those studies is that if we can, as
scientists, locate the "problem" then we can "fix" it. The false
dichotomy (or trichotomy) of sexuality in this culture is
no only totally destructive, but also illogically limiting. Human
sexuality is a spectrum, not black, white, and gray. I think it is
very, very important to scrutinize these studies and the motivations
behind them...and also put a lot more thought into what kind of
cultural/social construction are at work.
