: : Since 4's are known for thier off and on again interest in someone, does that mean they don't have long-term friendships because they get disillusioned with someone they become friends with?

: I am dealing with this very thing today. I got an e-mail from a friend asking me to chat on MSN tonight, but she said, "Don't be offended but would you mind if we didn't talk about, blah, blah, blah..." I thought, "don't be offended? I'm VERY offended!" Would I ever ask her, "Don't be offended but would you mind if we didn't talk about you kids? Would you mind if we didn't talk about your church activities? Would you mind if we didn't talk about Survivor?" I have not even responded to her e-mail for fear of my response being sarcastic. But in my mind I'm thinking, that's it for you! Another written-off friend.

: What kind of 'friend' stipulates the perimeters of the conversation? Yuck! For that, I can pay a jerky therapist, thanks so much.

: I've always felt like I'd be the best friend to have b/c I'd give people what I've always wanted: lots and lots and lots of space. Isn't that dumb? Like friendship is built strong on space. What a concept. But I do find people who accept me as is and if I don't email or communicate for even a year or more and then drop them a line, they do not judge me. And that is worth more than gold to me.
