: Fours and Fives are similar in that both focus their attention on something : that is missing or in short supply; Fours and Threes are similar in that : they pay attention to the image they are presenting. (Although the image : that they present is very different.) As I understand it, although Fours : and Nines may behave similarly, Nines focus on what is present and Fours on : what is absent and so they are really complete opposites. : Of course, this is all theoretical and you know more about Fours than I ever : will.
: David Well, all I know is that I do have some definite Nine tendencies, even though I am a 4w5 otherwise. I tend to space out, in the past I would ignore my own needs in favor of whoever I was infatuated with at the time >g<, as merging with them in this manner was less threatening that opening up with my own needs. It seems to border on stereotyping to say that Fours concentrate on what's absent while Nines=present, as I can imagine many situations where I did one or the other. Some people also compartamentalize their lives to the extent that they are different types depending on the setting-3 at work, 7 on the weekend while hang-gliding or whatever. The situation matters very much, in other words- people don't react in the same way to all stimuli... John DiFool
