Expressing oneself is about E/I not T/F. Therefore you can appear to be cold, unemotional, and robotic...and still feel a hurricane of emotions inside. This is why introverts are so hard to read: They all appear to be alike on the outside at first glance. Not that extraverts are any easier to understand! The other day I had a pretty deep conversation with a 6w7 ESFP. He says he really likes listening to downbeat, depressive songs...which is very very strange since on the outside this guy is a TOTAL light-hearted comedian-clown. He was telling me about how sometimes he just likes to write, which is something along the lines of "I know I cant live without you...my heart is bleeding...it needs you to survive" or something like that. I was kind of tempted to think he's a Four, but I wonder if this is just his phobic Sixishness coming out. He was also telling me that his biggest problem with his girlfriend is that he feels he is not good enough for her. When he was younger, he was made fun of for being ugly, and now today he carries that with him. He is VERY jealous and scared that someone would take his girlfriend.

I think on the Oldham scale he might be a Devoted/Dependent personality.

Wow, ok that was kind of going off on a tangent. Also, Lisza, remember what Jung himself wrote about the Fi type's coldness? We had that discussion before.

Keep it real, INFP chick.

: Well, I'm not actually unsympathetic, but why do I always have so much trouble expressing sympathy? Actually I have trouble expressing feelings generally. I'm most confident in expressing ideas. But it's not as if I don't have feelings, I just don't know how to express them very well, and people often think I'm cold. Does this mean I'm a 5 or a thinking type?
