: I know about the head, heart, gut thing! What I'm saying is it doesn't make sense for it not to make sense. If they are both typings, then there should be MORE correlation. Otherwise it means that either the MB is missing out on types or not typing in a way that reflects reality or The E-gram is leaving out a lot of information that is central to people. My bet is definately on the E- gram as dealing with motivations, defences, rather than the way they externalise themselves.

: Anyway I wasn't her earlier, so is there a ban on mentioning the MB in connection with the E-gram. Everyone seems to keep on about their MB type an awful lot without discussing why they are this type. What causes it? What is to be gained and why that choice of function?

: I feel compelled to resolve contradictions/overlap.

: Overarching schemes - five wing.

: I would like to know more about the motivations of Sevens.

No, there's no ban on MBTI here. I've just gotten tired of people trying to come up with EXACT correlations, e.g. saying that all INFP's are 4's and all 4's should be INFP's. As you said, the two measure different things, so in theory, they are mutually exclusive. Why does there have to be more of a correlation for them to make sense? To me, this is where my intuitive understanding of people comes in--to see both E-gram and MBTI aspects of a person, and how they fit together. I see your point about how we don't discuss how we became a particular MBTI type. To me, the system is much more simplistic and artificial than the enneagram, so I never gave it too much thought.

I didn't mean to insult you with the head/heart/gut comment, so I'm sorry if it came off as condescending.
