Enneagram Type 4 Board Archive Good words Derf! You get crowned (& I won't 'take it back' this time)Posted by Cecil on September 10, 1999 at 20:44:42: In Reply to: The road to glory is not paved with gold - it's muddy and icky. Some hard "realist" words - NOT criticism. posted by Derf on September 10, 1999 at 20:25:22: Derf:: Live, learn, and keep on trying. Learn to love rejection. We all get a lot of it. Cecil: We all do. It's part of life. Better yet, learn to capitalize on it, make the experience work for you, learn from it, talk advantage of the learning what did not work, and act on it by not repeating the same behaviour, but finding what you can do to change what has not worked in the past. I'm in the same problem right now. I'm trying to figure out how the heck to get out of my cyclic cycle behaviour right now. How to stop the cycle. I can't give up. I need to work on consistently circumventing my cycle by constantly adopting 'trying out' new, different, alternative ways to deal with my tendency to over-react. Need to channel the energy into something more constructive. Derf: Some of us respond actively to it; some react to it and get depressed. Cecil: To respond actively is the way to go, but only if it is constructive, not a destructive cycle. Derf: Which is really touching but, hey, no one's going to save you. "Nobody cares." Or maybe they do, but people make mistakes. Cecil:I say, people DO care, but no one has the answer. In the end we must determine what works the best for us as individuals. The most others can do is give us advise and encouragement to not give up because we're still needed. Derf:They can be petty. Though so can you, I'm sure - we all can. Rejection can work for you, and if you persist, you'll get what you want. Cecil: Way to go Derf. Another one hits the spot. You shall be crowned "Advisor for the year". (No, I will not come back and apologize this time for being too offensive because I feel like everyone else got rejected because I praised you, but did not offer them crowns as well. I must stop that.) : Derf
