I'm pretty sure that my mother is a 6 SJ of some sort. She's a workaholic and very indepedent. So indepedent that she forgot to raise her kids. So the relationship became non-existant over the years, and I'm fine with that, because she couldn't help me when I needed it. Absolutely clueless as to what to do with kids! My mother doesn't sound like either of your parents... not overprotective (letting us do whatever we wanted, only worrying if we were "safe") and not conservative or religious.

My 9 NF father could have been a great parent if he could've gotten over his own childhood and been more responsible (head out of clouds) sooner in life.
