: Lately, there's been a lot of talk here about what is, or is not, Fourish. Now, as we all know, there are dozens of subtypes and variants and typical manifestations of the Four personality. Yet, are we unwittingly including only a small fraction of these in our criteria? I got to thinking, what is commonly considered Fourish?

: In this group, I've noticed a vague pattern: a person is acknowledged as a "textbook Four" insofar as he or she is either of the following non-Enneagram types - or preferably both:

: 1) Social variant (Karen Horney)

: 2) Introverted Feeling type (Jung), in either primary or auxiliary position - in other words, xxFP (Myers-Briggs)

: I might also include Oldham's "Sensitive" or "Serious" style among these non-Enneagram criteria, but I know very little about that system so I'll leave it out for now. Even without it, I feel I'm making a pretty good case.

:
: Some people here fit both criteria, and thus, are considered "textbook Fours":

: Cathy - Social variant, INFP

: Areia Daphnaia - Social variant, INFP

: Tiggy - Social variant (unless, of course, she leaps out and insists she's an Intimate variant! :), ENFP

:
: Others fit one of the two criteria, and their "Fourness" is occasionally questioned, either by themselves or by others:

: Emily - Intimate variant, INFP (On two different occasions I know of, she has been said to resemble a 5 and a 2 - don't ask.)

: K.B./Ferrantino/whoever - Social variant(?), INFJ (Didn't somebody say he seemed like a 6 or a 3?)

: cj - Intimate variant(?), INFP (She mistyped herself as a Five for some time.)

: Then, there are those Fours who fit neither of the acknowledged subgroups (OK - they *may* fit neither of them; I can't be sure since I don't know their Hornevian variant), and their Fourness is often doubted, if not outrightly questioned:

: pork - Intimate or Self-pres variant, INFJ (I've been called "definitely" every single type except Two and Nine by any number of seasoned old pros. I learned a valuable lesson from these individuals, even if it wasn't about personality types... you'll know what I mean if you've been there. :)

: janis - (Which variant? Self-pres?), ISFJ (She was once called "the most un-Fourish Four.)

: Lisza - (Which variant?), INTP (She's been taking the usual tripe.)

:
: later, oink oink... gotta go.
