I'll bolt authority when people's feelings are involved or when the boss is just out and out wrong. One time when I worked at a TV station.. I was told I could not make a birthday card for a kid who was in the hospital with a fatal disease. I was asked to make the card by one of the on-air anchors who was working on a community project for the station. Anchors would put art requests in all the time so it was no big deal. My art director told me not to waste my time with it. He'd rather I waste my time making golf programs for the president of the communications co. that owned our station.

Forget that, I disobeyed my boss and I made the card anyway...all the anchors at the station signed it and it cheered the kid up. He died a couple of weeks later and I was glad I had been able to do little something for him.
