The first one was written years ago and was largely about Jonathan. The Second I wrote the other day - and is also about Jonathan. Like A Stone. You said I was a stone, hard like flint You picked me up and put me in your pocket But in the darkness warming to your skin You found I was a fiery living thing Who burned to make you real I wounded you , I scraped against the bone, I stuck into your flesh and made you feel So now you cast me from you like a stone Like a stone, yes you were hard like flint. Coming Up Against A Cold Front. I was fire to your ice, Heat to your cool You were cold to my warmth King to my Fool. There was passion to my pain Tears in my eyes Only anger in your face And irritation in your sighs. Swollen fullness in my heart Gifts in my arms But you pushed them right away Seeing only demands. Now I'm wary in my ways Fear in my eye Whatever you may say It seems to mean goodbye.
