Derf, that is probably the most arrogant load I have ever read. You have
been lucky enough to find the answer to your own depression, but that by
no means qualifies you to prescribe cures to others. Depression and mental
illness runs in my family, and this is not a self-indulgent "choice" to
be melodramatic and special by those family members who suffer from
mental illness and suicidal tendencies. You should be grateful that you
are no longer suffering, that you are alive and happy. Please do not
contribute to other's suffering with your bombastic and judgemental
statements. Depression is not a choice. For many people it is a death
sentence. I agree that too often our culture relies on pharmaceuticals to
solve problems that could be better addressed through careful attention to
diet and excercise, but to dismiss everyone who suffers from depression
as essentially self-indulgent is both cruel and misguided.
