Enneagram Type 4 Board Archive Riv:childhood and FoursPosted by Victoria on June 11, 2001 at 17:29:43: Or a lack of bonding with peers. Possibly stemming from parents that aren't in touch with society that well themselves or who feel superior or overcompensate for feelings of inferiority. When high expectations meet mediocre results or worse, the turning inward may be more than natural. My parents were very critical and I didnt make the high expectations. I had a bachelors and an art degree by age 21 and a job by age 22 and I still was considered a "loser" because I wasnt upper middle class. That was stressful. I had to turn inward for everything because nothing was ever good enough. I hope I dont sound bitter. IM over this stuff but I am talking about it just to be honest about this 4 stuff. My mother is a different person today also and I love her very much. My parents were also young when I was a child.
