I don't know if I'd call it a suffering ground but it *can* be a very unkind place. M.Scott Peck, the author of "The Road Less Traveled" starts that book with the statement, "Life is difficult." You can fool yourself about a lot of things but this isn't one of them. If you understand that there will be adversity in your life, and there certainly will, you shouldn't be devastated when it happens. At least you shouldn't be so prone to devastation.
