In Reply to: This just made me think of a few comments I've heard posted by Mikko on June 26, 2001 at 19:17:30:

Everybody who knows both sides of the argument is being pulled in separate directions by two ideologies:

1) The "scientific research" of the traditional vein, whose glaring presumption is that we're all alike, and that a single standard - of nearly ANYTHING - can be applied equally to every last person with uniform results.

2) The biological philosophy of veganism, which admittedly approaches the subject of the human being with a similar insistence upon a uniform standard.

The trick is to discover which ideology fits you closest, and perhaps to lean in that direction, even if you don't become a radical devout.

Guess which ideology fits my human body better? And to an extreme, nonetheless!

But again, as the old line goes, "That's just me!"

We've had this discussion with you before. To say that my life - physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually - changed dramatically in response to my vegan discipline would be an understatement. Could I say that the "pros" of my decision outweighed the "cons?" No, I cannot, because, contrary to what otherwise would seem a universal rule, there were no "cons" that I could detect... not then, and not ten years hence. I lost nothing - neither my strength nor my energy nor my mental faculties - and I gained in several respects, including those aforementioned.

Your scientific testimony is a good start; yet, you could bury me over my head in a library full of research to the same effect, and that would not change its utter dearth of authority on the subject of MY nature.

Am I implying that veganism would suit your needs? Hell no... It might kill you, for all I know. My current opinion (whose position is supported by a skyscraper of copious research that stands parallel to the one you cited, like a soldier facing his equal nemesis) is that some types of physiologies are better suited to the consumption of flesh than other types are. Perhaps you're one of them.

Now, go out and chase down a small animal, and kill it with your hands, and eat it raw on the spot - as nature (to echo a term you brought up) intended.
