I don't see the connection between envy and depression either. The kind of depression I'm talking about is not the "I wish I could do this or have this". It's BLACK, DEEP, suffocating and devastating and doesn't seem to come from anywhere. I can be happy as happy can be and then KABOOM! Depression strikes like lightening from a blue sky!
I do agree with you, though, that brooding or complaining never leads to anything good. But being DEPRESSED has often kept me away from doing things that I would have done if I hadn't been struggeling with depression, so I HAD to tell people that I cannot do this or that because of the depression. Not as often today as before, though, I am glad to say :o)
