Have you honestly not ever met a person of any sex who turns a boy-meets-a-girl kind of a situation into a powerplay, sort of "let's just see how dopey this person can get"? 'Stand up for themselves' was a poor selection of words, what I meant was 'can deal with the situation naturally and honestly'. I've met not one or two but a few bitches (and no, I don't have any inhibitions about using that word when it describes someone accurately) who can't take a compliment or an advance in stride but instantly turn it into some kind of a game.
