: Ev, I've tried and tried, but I find much of what Derf writes very offensive. And I am so tired of being ripped apart by him.

: It's not worth it for me to come on to these boards at work, get so worked up & have my day ruined. Life is hard enough at times. I don't need to be upset by someone I've never even met.

Yes, now I'm pissed. You people always take things so goddamn personally on this
board. Summer, you say PMS affects your mood and behaviour. Ok, I'm sure it does.
You think it's a better excuse than testosterone then? Males have 20 to 40
more of in their bodies, it's level can vary quite a bit, still if some jerk
beats another up and says "It's just the testosterone", he's called "AN IDIOT".
If a woman has a bad day and it's "Oh, I'm PMSing", we all should be so very
compassionate and friendly. You know what, I hate double standards. Jesus wept,
so men must have moods and feelings too, in case you haven't noticed.

What comes to Derfs replies, as I read the thread it seems Tiggy was justifying her
behavior with hormone/drug levels. OF COURSE they have an effect, but seemed as though
Tiggy was saying "not my fault, my hormones fault..." when a normal person realizes s/he
can't control his/her own behavior, that person goes to get a treatment, just as Derf
suggested. I had once a fit of rage in which I busted my left hand's middle finger's
knuckle to a concrete fall so bad I thought I won't be playing the guitar ever again.
Still, it was MY fault, not adrenaline, testosterone, ethylalchol or meteorite shower
in moon. No matter what you do, you really can't blame some out-of-reach influence.

If that "PMS as an excuse for murder" really happened in that way, we all might just
as well start killing each other and blame our "moods so influenced by our hormones"
Maybe it's easier for women to explain like that, but being a 5'11 200 pound (chest broader
than gut) guy, you have to have some better consideration. What would it look like if I
said after a particular bad day, after throwing some poor bastard/bitch out of the window that
"it was my cycling variance of testosterone combined with adrenaline"? (cyclic variation does occur
in men, or is at least suggested by some scientific studies) and my personal testosterone level is
rather high.

I understand that people have rather difficult moods and variations therein,
but I just can't accept moods justifying behavior (except in animals, but we're humans
at least I hope so.) If you feel like killing people, having a bad mood, do you do it?

Keep in mind that I'm not judging moods and feelings, I know they come and go and there's
nothing wrong in them "an sich". However, behavior often can be labeled "wrong".

One further thing, we 4w3 are very apt to get people very upset at times, this
is the place where you can learn to deal with it.
