Enneagram Type 4 Board Archive Blunt idealistic statements - where suitable (or where NOT suitable, at least)?Posted by Derf on May 15, 1998 at 23:47:57: In Reply to: Re: ah, one more thing.... posted by John DiFool on May 15, 1998 at 20:58:18: To John: I sympathize with you perfectly. When I say "we should this, we should-that," I'm speaking from either the high or the low side of One (I'm not sure which). I'm stating a kind of *ideal* - an abstract SENSE of ideals - something to be "written down and read," but I'm not suggesting that I'm superhuman, or that anyone else should be. The way I see it, ideals are just blunt statements that are supposed to motivate us... or something like that. I don't think I would actually SAY that to a depressed person's face - I wouldn't *bother* the poor person in that manner. I feel that I should keep my radical statements "written on the wall," and let people read them *if they want*. Does that make sense to anyone? It seems, to me, to complement my philosophy that happiness comes only to those who look for it. To Bibi: please pardon the confusion I caused by my vague definition of "depression."
