Hmmmmm... I haven't observed a gender imbalance with 4s... I think I've known a pretty equal number of males and females. I also don't think there is so much actual disparity in 8 as the stereotype suggests.
As a female 5, tne thing that I've really wondered about is how much cognition and how much development play a part in the 2 and 5 gender polarizations. 2s are definitely the most generalized thinkers of the enneagram... 5s the most compartmentalized... cognitive styles that fit gender stereotypes (the old Mars & Venus bullshit). 2s are exploited/emotionally used/forced to be dependent, 5s are unbonded/rejected/forced to differentiate prematurely.
