Enneagram Type 4 Board Archive Re: Does it seem like more girls are 4's than guys?Posted by pork on October 29, 2001 at 22:45:52: In Reply to: Re: Does it seem like more girls are 4's than guys? posted by FRED on October 29, 2001 at 20:42:58: : Your comment about variance of type definition for enneagram authors is quite disconcerting. If true it simply means that the e-gram has no value as a system for understanding personality. I don't think any Enneagram author can justifiably claim their work to be a DSM-league Enneagram "bible" at the moment, though factional alliances abound. I feel that Riso and Hudson will eventually prevail, due to their comprehensive thoroughness (which, for better or worse, distinguishes them quite markedly among their peers). This, in spite of Enneagram pioneer Naranjo's disagreement with Riso (which Naranjo mentioned in passing, but did not actually discuss with reference to any specific points). Few people read Naranjo anyway. : Anyway Fours in my book are strongly bound up with introverted feeling judgement, in a peculiarly self-aware way. Let's stick with that for now, or at least with F-Judgment. It's not an absolute, but Fours with dominant or auxiliary T-Judgment are allegedly so rare as to merit statistical insignificance, and I'll accept that for now. This is one of the few places where prevailing M-B and Enneagram interpretations line up almost perfectly. : My Myers-Briggs books all confidently state a 60/40 percent split for feeling judgement between F/M. Seems that would parlay into a M/F predominance for this point, no? Maybe it turns out that way, maybe it doesn't. If you're suggesting that a significant majority of all people with dominant or auxiliary F-Judgment are Fours, and that this majority applies equally to both genders (If the other stats we've discussed concerning Fourness and F-Judgment show differences between gender, why not this?), I can neither agree nor disagree. I don't know enough to take a positive position, but if you or anyone you know ever conducts an extensive survey, tell me about it. ^(oo)^
