poe was remarkably focused and prolific throughout his life. the events of his death are kinda shady. he DID turn up in a gutter, and the assumption was that he had been drinking, but it was suspicious and never investigated. he got so much work done, it's amazing. he edited several periodicals, wrote tons of very popular stories and poems, and invented the murder mystery format. how many 4s are that productive? especially considering the hell he went through in his personal life early on. truly a very healthy person.
