Very nice, Tiggy! I never thought of some of these reasons before, like the 3-peacock-vanity, or the 5-hamster-hoarding. A few specific comments: I look at elephants as 8's--can be overpowering and charge ahead, but can also be benevolent and gentle with those they care for. Some trivia about owls: I once saw the "Skyhunters" show at the Bronx zoo, and the zookeeper said that the "wise old owl" is really a myth--they're actually quite stupid even by bird standards. He said it took them 2 years just to teach one to fly down from a high perch to take some food from the trainer's hand. And finally, I don't think mourning doves are actually depressed--the call just sounds that way to us. :-)

Oh, and a former housemate of mine had a kitten that I'm sure was a 7w6. All of life was a game to her. She was bold and adventurous, as long as things were safe enough to allay her fears; otherwise she would run and hide.
