I always thought I would not want to say anything personal or "mushy" in front of people... and on my wedding day, I even surprised myself... We prepared our wedding just about a month ahead... and it wasn't even that personal, really... we simply put in lots of symbolic quotes... the whole ceremony kind of felt like a poem to me! ...sigh...
The thing is, if mine had been a big wedding, like yours... everything would have been different! I simply cannot speak in public... when there is even just one person I don't know, I freeze...! So, I probably WOULD want the "straightforward" wedding vows then... I probably would have felt much like you did... being the center of attention... I KNOW I would have been nervous the whole time!
