All you have to do is think of *your* priorities.
1) How much do you love the man?
2) How much do you want kids?
3) How important is your work to you?
Who would ever think less of you if you did something for love?
(love of a good man, love of a (even future) child.
Work & social status stuff is way, way overrated. Especially work.
After all, its a 4 letter word!
