I am assuming that most of us on this board are not starving in a gulag, nor halt and lame in India, etc., etc.
Again, because a thing does not apply to all (nothing ever does) does not invalidate it.

Come on guys, get real. Common sense dictates that if you are reasonably healthy, reasonably sane, and are getting three squares a day in a reasonably healthy environment where self expression is the norm, the rest is basically your responsibility. If not, other rules come into play. again, it doesn't invalidate it. Make it what you will. Again, YOUR responsibility. MY responsibility. If you want to split hairs about the price of the wretched refuse on the teeming shore, fine. The one 'reality' does not preclude the other. Basic, common sense. Basic application of norm and principle in an environment that allows such to flourish.

: : : i have a problem with point 8. 'you have all the tools and resources you need.'

: : : does this apply to rwandans, ethiopians, somalians, indians....need i go on? NO...I get what you're sayin....but what Pseudo Name IS saying there is...that from the "destitute" to the "rich and powerful"...their is still the "self"....you have a body...you have a mind...you have personal will....and with this body and mind ...you always have choices....No matter what your circumstance, you have the "ability"...to make choices...you can choose to live unfufilled...or you can choose to live fully.......That's what Pseudo is saying, or chicken soup on the refrigerator is saying...whatever that is....
: : economics aside....
: : DEECEE

: To say that a person in the lowest caste of Indian culture has "free will" is to say nothing. To say that a Russian prisoner in a Siberian gulag has the ability to make *meaningful* choices is to say nothing. To say that the crippled have the ability to do anything they "will" with their bodies is to say nothing. To say that a person who lives in a dictatorship is free to exercize their will as they see fit is to say nothing. But, this message was written to people who, for the most part, don't find themselves in those predicaments.
: Therefore, to the majority of us, this advice rings true.
