Enneagram Type 4 Board Archive C'mon positive FOURS out there....!Posted by Lauren on June 09, 1998 at 12:39:52: Hi fellow fours. I just discovered this message board (finally) I am a four with five wing and relatively healthy. While I do feel I will always be sensitive, more emotional, moody, etc....let me tell you, you can get out of your four despair! After years of working at it, I don't let my emotions completely control me. I have integrated healthy self-discipline (not all the time, but always going back to it - the one side) and keeping positive goals in mind. When you start living in this state, you will get so tired of (sorry fours) 'victim fours' who do alot of complaining and live in utter sorrow, but truth be told, they are comfortable in this state. I have seen four friends live in this state for years, and it is not a pretty picture... When you get beyond all this intense drama and remember there is more to life, you will wince at all the time you constantly felt sorry for yourself. Believe me, I still feel sorry for myself sometimes, but realize LIVING IN THIS STATE is not healthy. I have been through some pretty painful things. My mother died of cancer three years ago when I was 29. She was diagnosed and died 4 months later. We were very close and I'm still dealing with it. My father had a stroke at the age of 57 from which he never truly recovered. I have had more broken romances, dying friendships and unfullfilling jobs that I care to remember. But I still get up every day and try, try, try. I hope that some of you fours who have been in the state of despair for more years than they care to admit will take heart and start doing something about their lives... I realize this sounds like preaching and I apologize in advance to those of you I have pissed off...I'd just like to see more comments from the positive fours to remind ourselves what direction our lives CAN take.
