I wouldn't say that I see the type first, but I have a reaction to a person, and can then say, "oh, they're acting out of the fears of type X, that's why I don't like them." I know it sounds bad the way I just said that--to put someone in a box and label them. And yes, it is an easy way to avoid really getting to know a person. But it's also a sign of self-awareness, IMO, to be able to see these traits in people that you know you don't get along with, and to know why you dislike them.
This is what I get from most 3's--I just don't like those personality characteristics. Maybe I'm not being all that open about it, but does being open mean that we have to like everybody? I'm not sure.
