Hal's the man! I *also* like to have something to refer to. Sometimes it's not necessary, sometimes it's essential. Ev : : Yes! Hear, hear! or rather Here, here! Anyway, Hear here! I thought the same myself but didn't like to say; it makes much more sense if everybody erases the message they are following up. It is just lazy not to. Especially confusing if you leave it in and intersperse your own responses between original text. It can lead to confusion about who is writing the message and this can lead to arguments and embarassing mis-identification of gender! No one wants to have to interpret numerous symbols as speed is of the essence as far as I'm concerned. It wastes time looking for the start of a new message, especially when it is confused by initial quotations that are being responded to. These should be put in speech marks. It also means that if the two or three people before have not erased the former messages then I am left to erase a whole lot instead of just one message. though not normally a conformist I am all for establishing good practice so that we can get straight down to the nitty-gritty without confusion.
: : tigs. : Well, color (or colour) me different, but I like having the previous message or two left there to refer to, as long as it doesn't get too long. Just the past one or two posts is fine--after that, I start deleting before I add my own text. : - Hal -
