Enneagram Type 4 Board Archive Re: ChildhoodPosted by Cory on September 30, 1999 at 17:13:15: In Reply to: Re: Childhood posted by megan on September 30, 1999 at 01:01:01:
[Megan]: I kind of enjoyed reading about your childhood. Sounded fun. Not at all like the supposed traumatic isolated 4 childhood phenomenon. [Cory] - It was isolated, just not traumatic. [Megan] - Although I am just recently out of childhood, I just realized how great it would be to be aged 4 forever. [Cory] - Ah! But do we EVER leave childhood? :) I'm 19 in a few days myself, so I can relate. [Megan] - Having tantrums on a whim, going to the playground, especially the whole Santa Claus deal. I had so much FUN when I was 4. Now I know what adults mean when they say, "never get old." Today I came across a lot of my old storybooks from when I was little and I had a blast reading them again. I loved Rikki tikki tembo and all the children's poems by Robert Louis Stevenson. Some of them are so rascist and unpoliticallly correct, though, I can't believe they still publish them. I haven't visited this board forever but I think I wrote you something before. Anyway, you sound so much happier than you did when I encountered your posts, maybe 6 months ago. Just from your writing, anyway. [Cory] - Actually, I've been on this board for um a couple weeks! I was reading old messages, and apparently there was a guy named Corey, who was also a 4, posting. Wasn't me though! But, my previous posts have been written out of despair....all depends on my mood. Whether or not depression is at my side makes a big deal. [Megan] - Do you think this whole enneagram thing has helped you grow as a person? Besides feeling like it validates your personality? Does anyone think it's really been beneficial for them? [Cory] - I dont know about "growing"...but Understanding, yes. Knowledge of the enneagram and other personality taxonomies has given me an insight on understanding people, and it gives me some security knowing something they don't! [Megan] - I never did figure out if I was a 9 or a 4, but I kind of lost interest in the whole thing. Sorry, guys. I think what I really need is a therapist. [Cory] - I'm a 4w5, but my type after that is 9. Theres a definite correlation between 4's and 9's...to understand your type, you cant take just one test. It can be a long, arduous process. Hell, maybe I'm not even a 4w5? I certaintly don't dress like a "typical" one! But if you lost interest, that might mean you are a 9 and not a 4 (since most fours just Love this!) [Megan] - But I like hearing about all of your forays into 4-dom and such. IF any 4 reading this does not listen to Joni Mitchell already, you must start. She will become your musical guidance and solace, I promise. [Cory] - Yes, she's a fellow 4w5. I never heard her music, so I dont know about her. [Megan] - Well, sorry for the rambling. I really have nothing profound to add but just wanted to say hi. Cory, good luck. If you want to become a writer, go for it. I enjoyed reading your beautifully written posts awhile ago. [Cory] - Well these 'beautifully written posts' were most likely written by someone else, but hey - its cool! I'll take credit! The biggest obstacle for me to become a writer is not anybody on the outside world, but of motivating myself. Laziness and apathy have a leash around my neck and drag me wherever they want to. -Cory
