: Is identity more a problem for Fours? It's hard for me to understand things sometimes, because I don't really know what it's like to be without this huge questionmark.

Hello Tigs,

Derf has already written about the kazillion different aspects we can struggle with in search of self. I don't think there's any one answer to the overall question, "Who am I?"

Just thought I'd take a stab at this question. I believe that identity issues are definitely more of an issue for 4's than other types. Why, you may ask? It's because 4's go through life with a fundamental sense of disassociation from their fellow man. 5's choose separation to varying degrees, but they don't have the same sense of not being connected that 4's do. They're not exactly the life of the party but they don't necessarily feel like an alien either. 4's seem to quite often struggle with an "otherworldliness" (new term :) ) that less ethereal types don't deal with. Every other type is either fixated upon someone or something else. The 4 alone is fixated upon self. If you can't even define the nature of your fixation you have a fundamental problem. We'll just call it the "4 dilemma" and let it go at that.
