Actually, I haven't read either, really. I was just thinking about my general tendency to like Star Trek, because it has an extensively described alternative reality with strict internal logic and functionality.

Still, my favorite type of literature is something that describes fictious events occuring in organisations existing in real life. If anything is common to both Stephen King and Tom Clancy, that is.
