Dear Brian,

Hi, thought I should respond to your question as career has been one of if
not the most serious focus in my life for several years now. And I'm happy
to say my dream career is just getting started. I just landed a job as a Youth
Minister at a progressive church in a major urban centre. I'll be working with
a huge, multicultural youth group, as well as taking one of the church
services each month. By the way, I'm a Four/INFJ, if that helps.

Us fours need a job that appeals to our need for deep emotional contact and
true fulfillment. Things like ministry, grief counsellor, psychologist, etc. are
careers that plumb the depth of human existence and emotion. And there's
that certain "centre stage" quality in there that appeals to fours as well. I
can't imagine tech writing would offer much in those categories; one of the
follow up comments above seems to bear that out. I'd invite you to consider
a career along those lines.

Also, please pick up a copy of Helen Palmer's "The Enneagram in Love and
Work." I swear by this book. It's got detailed and clear outlines of each of
the types and typical careers they each find satisfaction in.

Hope that's some help to you. And if you feel you need to take some time off
school to figure out what you want, please, please, please do it!! It worked
out great for me, even though it was pretty tough going some years. Good
luck!

-- Mark
