Have you ever read "Phantom Tollbooth" by Norton Juster? It's a great children's book that I can still enjoy reading. There are lots of plays on words throughout it, like the carriage that goes without saying--it won't go anywhere until everyone is silent. I would say it has a fourish theme to it--it's about a little boy who isn't happy wherever he is and goes off into this magical world and discovers that there is lots to be excited about in the world after all.
