Happy Birthday! What a wonderful "place" for you to be in--your post touched me, and yes, I made great changes in my 40s! I, too, felt that I had squandered/wasted my talents and time, settling for stability--I was a teacher, and I taught where I did for stability, for a steady income. I became increasingly sick--excruciating migraines--and finally realized the level of surpressed anger was the cause. I went to massage school for 18 months, quit teaching, and have a private practice now. In looking back, I see that I accepted change, and also kept lots of stability--a 26 year marriage to a 9 (is that salt of the earth, or what?!!), same house, but new me. I teach workshops now on mind/body subjects, see clients, and work on equanimity. the migraines are almost a thing of the past--rare, and not as painful as they used to be. It *can* be done--my 40s were a "yeasty" time. I am loving my 50s! Go follow your heart.
