I've been thinking lately about my passion, about how I care deeply and how certain people and things mean a lot to me. I’ve long thought of it as a liability, especially when I couldn’t let go of something or someone that everyone else thought I should.

I’m thinking now though that I love my ability to care and can use it more accountably - choosing where and when to invest it. I think it’s actually a marvelous talent, one that others much enjoy as long as it is used positively, and as long as I do not expect them to share my passion fully.

It’s like I’m seeing that I can have all my passion, and by doing bring life into a focus that is me-sized and right for me, and I can also share it when appropriate and to the degree that is meaningful to others, and thus be fulfilled both ways.

I think passion, reflectiveness, and an appreciation of deep meaning are gifts of the fours, and I don’t think others necessarily can do it. It’s good not to flaunt such talents, just as not to flaunt any talent ... I don’t think our culture much honors this gift, but I do think we can honor it among ourselves.
