: I've read several posts by people who seem to have changed drastically in their personalities, but still remain 4's. Someone said that they were an INFP and went to an ENFP. Other people talk about just living more freely and learning how to be less self-absorbed. I am 15 and have been searching for a way to deal with my shy/introverted/sel-conscious, etc. personality. How do you become a healthy 4?

I can't really say how to become a healthy 4, since I'm certainly not there yet. But I can say that the times when I've been the least self-absorbed are those times when I "get out of myself." Every time this has happened, it's been because I was focused on someone else rather than myself--I was focused on giving rather than taking. So the best suggestion I can give you right now is to try to think about other people, their problems, and what you can do for them. Try to understand and feel for someone else. In addition to helping you become less self-absorbed (at least in the moment), it also lets the other person get some help they may need, and allows your relationship to become closer by opening your heart to someone. So it's a win-win situation for everyone, and the experience can be much more powerful and satisfying than it may sound.
