: 'I feel very scattered right now'

: Dear Jasper, why do you feel scattered? Or what does it feel like to feel scattered?

: In 'The Enneagram Workbook' it suggests that if Fours lie on their backs and breathe deeply 15 times, doing this each day, then they will feel more centred. I haven't managed to do it each day, but when I do, it does help. The meditation will help too so you should definately make that a regular part of your life, but you have to watch what groups your getting involved with. They should concentrate on the meditation and not on speculative beliefs. That's why adult ed. Courses are good. The Brahma Charya group I tried are too much into spreading their beliefs, or that may just be the particular bloke who runs it. The Indian chap, who speaks once a month, I really liked, but the regular speaker I can tell already sees me as a threat. When I asked a question he pretty much told me to shut up in a roundabout way. I suppose he thought he was being clever, but it was just because he didn't have an answer. I didn't like him at all. I'm going back this week just because I left an earring there, but I think after that I'll give it a miss and advertise for someone to meditate with.

: Here's the words of one of the songs I'm going to send you by Adrian. I don't know how the words come across by themselves because the music reflects the feelings quite a lot, I think.

: Picking up the Pieces.

: Picking up the pieces
: Clutching tears and hands and faces
: Slipping by
: The smiles and words that hide
: The dead man at my side
: The sick child in my heart
: I hide them in my

: Picking up a new day
: Finding things in just the old way
: Slipping by
: Try hard to make them mine
: To hold them, but they die
: To love them, but they fade
: The patterns always change

: In the light of every day,
: Though one man's light is the dark of another
: Turning love songs into hate
: Turning hope into fear,
: But the hope of peace is broken
: Into pieces
: Falling round us and away.

: Picking up your questions
: Feeling sure there must be reasons
: In my mind
: To make the answer true
: To show the way to go
: To catch the sense in life
: To make sense of my

: Picking up a new heart
: Trying to give myself a new start
: Trying hard
: To make the wrong come right
: To see things in the light
: Trying hard to make them real
: Trying not to feel

: How it can't get any better
: How much trying is getting me nowhere
: How men's trying is breaking their backs
: How we try to make life
: But the hope of peace
: Is broken into pieces
: Falling round us and away.

Thanks Tiggy. Yes, there are charlatans out there, and it would be typical of we fours in our quest for understanding to fall prey to their schemes. It almost happened to me earlier this year when after just a one night intro. to the Kabbalah (the old Jewish mysticism), I started getting calls from the Rabbi trying to persuade me to sign up for all the classes. Then on an Internet website, I read from others how its all about their trying to get your money, not about their teaching you anything that will make a difference in your life.

There's a private school for children in my neighborhood that teaches (in the fall and spring) fun classes in the evening for adults. Art, music, acting, languages, spirituality, computers, etc. I will simply take a one night intro. to meditation. I will not accept any further phone calls from the instructors trying to get me to sign on afterwards. It's just about me trying the introduction for one evening only. Only with the astrology intro. did I later let the instructor do my chart, and she turned out to be very helpful and legitimate.

Thanks for the advice. Everybody (even people on the Board like Hal) who have tried Meditation have said it was really beneficial.

Last night, bought the Lion, Witch and Wardrobe. It was funny, me being an adult perusing the children's section of the bookstore; was very nostalgic. Reminded me of when I was a child in the children's section of my hometown library. Let you know what I thought of the book. Let me know if and when you enroll in Meisner I.

Jay
