: : I didn't have any likeminded friends till I went on to college and then I was lucky that there was a special centre where more seriously minded people hung out, but which also had good parties. Made some really close friends there who I can still say practically anything to. Wish I'd joined other societies where I could have met people with the same interests as me.
: : School isn't so focussed on socializing here, I think, (England), but I hated it because the other people at my school weren't into what I was into. But i managed to have some good friends still, because they appreciated my sense of humour.
: : I used to bunk off a lot because I hadn't done my homework, and I hadn't done it because I was depressed. People can be very silly and impressionable at that age, so if someone behaves oddly, don't think it's your fault - it's probably their insecurities. Hold your head up high, as it gains you respect if people see that you're not easily cowed down by their negative behaviour. Don't let anyone lower your self-esteem. Confront your friend rather than letting it bother you, but confront them like you're doing them a favour letting them hang round with you.
: : BTW I'm not really a teacher - I screwed that one up as well. I'm just missing hanging out with the best people in school, the pupils.
: It doesn't appear that we 4s, as a rule, have very illustrious scholastic careers. When I was enduring high school my main way of coping with the unbearable boredom of the school day was to not attend. In my sophomore year I had to have my parents get me back in school because I had skipped so much. By the end of the first semester I had missed all the days allowed to still remain a student in my school district. Talk about the ultimate bummer, try going from occasional attendance to *you can't miss again for any reason* overnight and see how that messes with your psyche. I do feel for those young 4's who are going through it.
