I really dig minor keys, I've decided. Of late I've developed a strong taste for performers that can pull off Celtic and Middle Eastern roots. As I write these lines, I'm listening to Loreena McKennit's "The Book of Secrets."

As far as Pearl Jam is concerned, "Ten" is one of my favorite debut albums--Alanis Morisette's "Jagged Little Pill" tops the list. However, far and away the pop music album that has made the biggest difference in my life was Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours." It was the first time in my life that music actually helped me come to terms with my parents' bitter divorce and actually helped me "understand" that happily ever after doesn't always come to pass.

My two favorite albums, though, are a toss-up between Sarah McLachlan's "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy" and Sting's "The Soul Cages." The former "stretches" my feelings: McLachlan is a gifted story teller and I find myself going from song to song, feeling angry, then laughing, them pensive, then EXTREMELY aroused, etc. (y'all get the picture). The latter, in my opinion, contains the two scariest songs I've ever heard: "Island of Souls" and "The Soul Cages." I won't explain why they strike me so; I'll let you decide.

Classical wise, my father had a large role in introducing my to it without really forcing me to listen. I'm a Baroque freak: the genre brings incredible joy to my heart and connects me to what I call--for the sake of political correctness--the Infinite Intelligence. Pachelbel, Telemann, and Bach rock (especially Bach)!
