By "Too bad dat da British accents are all but gone because of da American ones." I meant that when I opened my mouth to utter an English word, I used to be able to "fake" (meaning to apperently speak with an accent that would've fooled the uniniated, but so that a native speaker probably would've spotted me) a number of British accents. Those included Geordie, Yorkshire, Cockney and a fairly good Brummie, but my best was probably Scots.

However, as I've lately concentrated really hard to make my American accent as fluent and authentic as (un)humanly possible, I've lost the sense of the British sound. I didn't mean that the American accents would've extinguished the original British ones in The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
