Hal, thank you for your input - most interesting reading, and what I liked best about what you said is that I agree on every point! *grin* (I simply love it when someone is saying exactly what I would like to hear, or say with their own words what I would have said...don't you love that, too?) Anyway....for argument's sake, let's take an example of a given situation where three people experience "the same thing". Person A, B and C is standing in a position where the three forms a triangle. A is facing B, and on the top corner of the triangle C is standing. On the ground between A and B someone has written a symbol on the ground. From A's point of view it looks like a 9, from B's point of view it looks like a 6. From C's point of view it looks like a circle with a tail pointing upwards. Who is right? They ALL are! (Draw the triangle and the symbol if you cannot see it off hand) Lousy example? Maybe. Maybe not. We DO see things from our point of view. What we experience in any situation is THE truth seen through our eyes, or sunglasses. And they are invariably tinted by OUR former experiences, our personality, our mood that day, our expectations and so on and so forth, sometimes even gender. If A, B and C walk down the street and they meet an anaconda, A get terrified and will tell everybody what a HORRIBLE experience it was, 'cause A's phobic to snakes. B, on the other hand, thinks snakes are very fascinating animals and will tell everybody what an awesome sight she had of that perfect example of a anaconda with a certain, rare skin pattern. C is a hunter and is happy to meet the snake and then goes off and brag about being the only girl in the neighborhood ever killing an anaconda. Who is right? They ALL are. Even put in an objective point of view - A is right to be scared, anacondas ARE dangerous! B is right, that WAS a rare pattern. C is right to brag, as it happens she WAS the only girl in the neighborhood who ever had killed an anaconda, heck she was the only person ever in that neighborhood to hunt down an anaconda! Get my point? To a certain degree, I do agree with you that there is such a thing as THE truth when something happen. Either A was scared or she was not. Either that snake had a rare pattern or it didn't. But whether bragging about killing a snake or not is right, is up for discussion..... Some may read this entry thinking I'm angry, others may think I'm a brainless idiot, others may claim I'm up shit creek without a paddle, others again think I'm witty, then some will think I sound defensive, and some might think I am being sarcastic, then you have those who think what I say makes a lot of sense. Who is right? Which one are you? BB
As for The Ultimate, Universal Truth, I believe we all WILL find it one day. Problem is we're dead when we do.
