Enneagram Type 4 Board Archive I fancy Tuscany myself - and not doing much at all, just drinking wine and coffee and the occasional walk. NtPosted by Tiggy - not a 'doing' person. on December 01, 1999 at 20:33:39: In Reply to: Or we could hang it all and meet in that wine region in Tuscany - and share a few vino's together! [NT].... posted by Amanda :) on December 01, 1999 at 10:29:20: : : Greetings Fourdom :) : : The idea of a conclave has certainly sparked some interest. Reaching a consensus on some of the questions is going to be a bit of a challenge, it seems to me, but I figure if we keep at it - we'll come up with a thoroughly creative solution in the end....we are 4's after all! : : So far, the suggestions have been as wide-ranging as the whole country: : : You can see the problem. There are a number of ways we can narrow it down, simply by applying certain parameters. For instance, one person has enough points to qualify for a domestic flight - and I'm sure there's probably at least a couple who could afford to fly somewhere - while there are others who can't afford to take a long trip - and are only looking east. Where do these live - and what distance can they manage? Resorts for many of us would be out of reach financially. : : Personally (and in true 4 fashion, I might add) - my considerations take in elements of what I envision in my 'bubble'. I imagine that we meet over a weekend. It's fall (autumn) - and I see the leaves turning colour. Most of the people are introverts, so I don't see us in some thriving metropolis like New York. I see us in a more 'atmospheric' location. Keep in mind that at least a couple of us (hi Tigs:) are fairly extroverted - and we don't want to get 'cabin fever' - so you'll probably have to take us somewhere where we can let our hair down for a few hours! Which brings me to another point. With so many introverts, I hardly think we'd feel all that comfortable living on top of each other - as in a cabin with lots of bunks. We would need some space.... : : I am not the 'outdoorsy' type - so camping out or going on hikes and such are not really my cup of tea. I have nothing against others doing it - as long as they get it out of their systems first thing in the morning while I'm enjoying my lie-in. They could even bring me a nice hot cup of Earl Grey tea when they come to wake me up! I warn you all now - I am the last of the great night owls. I practically NEVER go to bed before around 4am - and endeavour to sleep til AT LEAST 11am (midday is even better) if I can possibly help it! : : Your 'fall' sounds like it is alot colder than our 'autumn'. I'm not adverse to going somewhere cooler - maybe even by the sea. I love to watch the ocean when it is becoming turbulent. There is something about the ocean that seems to speak to my soul. I love lakes and waterfalls too. There's a serenity about them that can't be matched. For me, I find that water adds a certain enchantment to the whole experience. The further north we go, the more I see an open fire place in my bubble....and of course, the obligatory gleaming black baby grand piano. I want to sing for you all.... : : Some have suggested a more southern approach. The climate is warmer and it has a whole different 'feel' to it. Ev talked about the Mexican experience in Texas. Arizona offers camping in the desert.... : : And just what is "cow tipping" anyway? : : In the final analysis, I don't really give a pair of dingoes kidneys where we meet. It will all be thoroughly windswept and interesting to me no matter where we are. I just want to be able and sit down and talk to you guys face to face. We can tell each other our stories (and our bad jokes too, no doubt). We can get spun out on listening to each other's accents. I mean, when you read my posts, do you 'hear' my Aussie accent? I 'hear' Ev's Texan accent, Tiggy's Pommie accent and a whole host of American accents....don't you? I digress.... : : I'm planning a trip to last at least 4 weeks (6 if I can manage it) - so I'll be travelling around for the whole of September. Anytime in September suites me for the conclave....but I'm open to any suggestions for other 'must see' places to visit from the locals. I'm not much one for the real 'touristy' type destinations - and I have no desire to go to places like Las Vegas (poker machines leave me cold AND I've read Stephen King's "The Stand"!) - but I do plan to catch two of my favourite artists performing at some stage. I HAVE to go to a "Tower Of Power" performance - and catch Aretha Franklin somewhere. Aretha practically never travels outside the US (she's terrified of air travel and goes by ship on any o/s trip) - and Tower of Power never seem to put Sydney on their touring schedule, for some strange reason! Another thing I simply MUST do is visit Bourbon Street in New Orleans. I think I might even get up and sing at a kareoke night, just to be able to say that I sang in Bourbon St. But mainly, I want to hear the musicians that play there. I want hear some good ol' blues and I want to go to a southern Baptist church and hear a real choir. I would love to visit a Native American reserve and get a glimpse into the culture. I want to ride a tram in San Francisco - and go to a house party. I am not much of a country music fan (although some of the 'new' country rock is ok) - but I'd rather rather roll in razor blades than go line-dancing! Give me r&b/funk/soul/blues/latin.... : : And the bubble just gets bigger.... : : smiles
