Enneagram Type 4 Board Archive Extraversion/IntroversionPosted by Cory on December 03, 1999 at 18:08:33: Isn't E/I not necessarily based on how sociable you are, but in what your mind is interested in? For example, Jung says Kant was an Introvert because his theories involved the nature of the mind. Darwin was an extravert because he was concerned with the external world. So basically, for most of the time would an extravert's mind be focused on the outside - on the world of people and things, while an introvert focuses towards their own mind? It would be Introverted behavior if a person was chronically introspective, almost oblivious of the real world and devoting their attention to their ideas, right? Also, do true Introverts WANT to connect with people? I myself am avoidant, I'd love to be able to express myself with others but find myself held back by the grips of self-consciousness. Would this make me a "repressed extrovert"? -Cory
