Hi Tiggy - and everybody else :)

Sorry I haven't been able to get back to you for a while....deadlines and all that, you know.

ANYWAY - To update you on where I'm coming from....
You can have the conclave any time that suites most people - but I will only be able to travel in September, I'm afraid. All my work commitments come to a screeching halt while the olympics are on - and it's my big chance to make my get-away. Not only that, but it is also our off-season for travel - so the cost is usually a bit cheaper at that time of year. I was bitterly disappointed that the hype about half-price airfares was all a hoax - but I'm going to burst blood vessels if I have to in order to make the trip. If the conclave date can't be made on one of the weekends in September, then please make sure that you guys get access to a computer on the net. At least that way, I'll get to hear all your real-time stories fresh from the horses' mouths....

As for New England....
I'm not much of an outdoorsy type, and I'm no beach bunny (although I do like the ocean during the autumn/winter months....SO atmospheric!) I'm sure I've mentioned (bragged probably) that I'm a night owl....breakfast at midday....enjoy the afternoon....share a meal and a few vino's....then settle in for some stimulating conversation....ain't life grand?

The thing about being a night owl is that the weather doesn't really come up all that much. Personally, I enjoy rain as much as sunshine - but my favourite is the wind. I'm a fan of autumn (fall) - for all it's changing colours and blustery days. The New England region fits my picture of an American 'fall' perfectly. The fact that it seems accessible to so many others is a plus I hadn't counted on....spooky.

Have I ever mentioned that I don't believe in coincidence?

So guys - that's the lay of the land from where I'm at. I really hope things work out for the conclave. If not, I'm coming over anyway to unleash some of my unspeakable charm on one or two of my American mates. Maybe I can even persuade them to show me around ( that mysterious noise you hear in the background is just my eyelashes fluttering for all they're worth!:)

I'll say this much, though - I'm still really keen on doing this....

smiles
Amanda :)

: I've been looking at a map of the US and have realised more where places are, and it seems that it would be easier for most of us to get to New England. I don't know if you think that renting somewhere would be more expensive there? Hal and Karen could drive up together from North Carolina. The native New Yorkers could get there easily enough, it's nearer for Matches and Jasper, and the flight would be shorter and probably cheaper for me and Amanda. In fact we could fly to New York which would most likely have cheap flights and travel up with the New York contingent. I would like to see New York. It would also be less hot I suppose; I'm not very good in the heat. I would prefer to come out before September but am still waiting to hear back from Amanda on that - anyone heard from her? I've always fancied seeing New England. Is it like England but with more space and better weather?
