Congratulations on what must have been a difficult decision to remove yourself from a bad situation, Kat. Leaving anything is never easy for me, especially when I believe I'm right and shouldn't have to leave. I hope you do realize that you were right here, and your boss was wrong in all he said and implied about you.
I'm fortunate to work with some good people, in a place free from this kind of abuse. BUT THEY JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND! They are also pure thinking types with little intuition. Not very much moves them, and they seem unable to see things from my point of view. It seems I can talk until I'm blue in the face about how I don't respond well to the same types of things that motivate them, or how I'm looking for different things out of life, but they just don't get it. It seems that the best I can hope for is for them to see that they need to change their behavior if they want me to be happy and do my best work here, even if they don't know why they need to do this.
I didn't mean to rant and rave about myself here, so thank you for reading this far on a tangent. But the point is that I don't think any less of myself just because I need different things than my coworkeres. I'm not less of a person because I'm more susceptible and sensitive to feelings. I'm not less rational, or intelligent, or valuable, or anything else. And neither are you. Please don't forget this. There are people (even bosses) who can love you, respect you, appreciate you, and even understand you, just as you are. Just reading you letter makes me angry, but it's important for all of us that we don't let anger consume us and rule our lives.
